Overview
We guide each other
This is an advanced three-month online training for leaders of open-form group presence practices, such as Flow and Surrendered Leadership.
It is a peer-to-peer training. Learning will arise through giving and receiving leadership feedback, facilitating and attending workshops, practising together, and — if you want it — through written explorations of theory and practice.
The training is fully online, so participants from different countries and continents can learn together. To support the communal learning experience, the cohort is capped at fifteen.

Who's it for
A training for experienced leaders
This training is for experienced leaders of open-form group presence practices who want to develop their leadership and to shape the evolution of the practice they lead.
The formal prerequisites for joining are:
- Leadership certification in a relational mindfulness modality, such as Relatefulness or Transformational Connection
- Thirty or more hours of paid, post-certification experience leading open-form group presence practices such as Flow or Surrendered Leadership
In general, I expect to accept applications from leaders who meet these pre-requisites. In the event that I have concerns about an application, I will reach out to the applicant to explore these concerns together before making a decision about whether they are a good fit for the training.
If you have any questions about any of the above, please email leadingtogether2027@gmail.com
What's involved
The structure of the training
The training runs from Monday 4 January to Monday 5 April 2027 and includes four elements, each of which is outlined below. The minimum time commitment for the training is 6–8 hours per month (22 hours in total). Required sessions with set times take place on Mondays, 6–8pm (UK).
Whole group calls
Everyone attends the five two-hour calls which open, maintain and close the container of the training community. After the first two, calls happen every four weeks. Each call includes one hour of guided activity and one hour of all-led practice. The final call includes a graduation ceremony.
8 Mar, 5 Apr)
Workshops
Together we create a programme of one-hour workshops exploring open-form group presence practices. Each person designs and runs one workshop, and attends at least five other workshops during the training (two per month, including the one you lead). All workshops are saved to a private online library for the duration of the training, to help you catch up on any you miss.
Feedback sessions
Once per month (three times in total), play a role in a two-hour feedback session. In each session, one person leads the practice for an hour, one person gives feedback on the leadership, and one person gives feedback on the feedback. You perform each role once during the training, and you are also encouraged to attend feedback sessions organised by other participants.
Training journal (optional)
The training closes with the creation of a digital journal, to serve as a record of our explorations and as a stimulus for further enquiries. The journal will be distributed online, for free, amongst our wider practice communities. It will list the training participants and workshop topics, and any participant who wishes to can also contribute a short video (up to ten minutes) or piece of writing (up to one thousand words).
Workshops
Creating a syllabus together
The content and the form of each workshop is up to the leader. Some workshops may be highly structured, others open-ended and emergent. Some may present theoretical material at length, others may let learning happen in a more decentred, alchemical fashion.
Some questions that workshops might explore include:
Feedback sessions
Helping each other grow
Each month you take one of three roles in a two-hour feedback session*, which you schedule at a time that works for you. You do each role once during the training.
Practice Leader
Advertises and leads a one-hour practice session**, inviting all training participants and up to three other guests of their choosing.
Feedback giver
Observes the session, then gives the leader feedback on their leadership for thirty minutes.
Meta-feedback giver
Observes both the session and the feedback, then gives feedback to the feedback giver for thirty minutes.
In these sessions, we grow not just as leaders, but also as trainers of leaders (and as trainers of trainers). We are invited to reflect on how to give feedback well. Tools and suggestions for giving feedback will be offered in one of the opening group calls.
In addition to organising your own sessions, you are encouraged to attend the feedback sessions organised by other participants. These are a wonderful source of inspiration and learning. (note that the timing of these sessions will vary, and you may not be able to attend all of them)
*I am grateful to Annabeth Novitzki for first introducing me to the two-layered feedback format.
**During these practice sessions the whole group stays together. This marks a significant difference from much in-person practice, where a group can, and often does, split into sub-groups.
About me
Will Jefferson
My role in leading this training is to set up and maintain its structure. Within that structure, we create together and guide each other as peers.
I am a leader of relational mindfulness practices. I certified with the Relateful Company in 2021, and worked for them from 2022 to 2026, including as a trainer on their nine month Level Up leadership training programme. In early 2026 I also created and led an internal three-month peer-to-peer training in flow leadership for thirteen other facilitators.
My approach to co-creation is informed by years spent directing and performing improvised theatre, and by more than a decade spent creating philosophy courses in academic summer schools. I hold a PhD in philosophy from the University of Oxford, where I wrote my dissertation on the moral significance of empathy.
Extra details
Common questions
What will a typical week look like on this training? How often will I have calls?
It depends how much you want to participate.
If you only attend the required calls, you will go to three or four per month. Every other week (on average*), you will have a two hour call on a Monday (6–8pm UK). Once a month, you will also have a two hour feedback session that you arrange at a time that works for you.
If you want to go to everything, and the cohort is full, then you will go to eight to ten calls per month (around two per week). Each week you would have a call on Monday (6–8pm UK) and there would probably also be a feedback session you can go to (the time of these will vary, there will be five a month).
*There are group calls on the first two Mondays of the training. After that, they are every four weeks. Between the group calls, there will be workshops on the Monday nights (one or two each week). You commit to attending two workshops per month.
Are there any restrictions on what kind of practice I do and lead within this training?
This training is a place to experiment and innovate. It is also a place to reflect on the diversity of approaches that already exist (for example, both between the cultures of Flow and Surrendered Leadership and within them).
At the same time, it is helpful to have some common commitments to bind our explorations together. If you have questions or concerns about any of these, please get in touch.
When we practice together in a group call, and when one of us leads within a feedback session, it will be for one hour, online and the group will stay together in one 'room'. It will be a whole-group practice.
Our practice will embody some kind of commitment to the four values listed below. These values can be given different articulations and degrees of significance, and they are, in some form or another, part of what we are doing.
- Presence – what are we experiencing, from moment to moment?
- Agency – what matters to us? How can we make empowered choices to co-create what is emerging between us?
- Relationship – what are we doing together? What is happening in the connections between us?
- Openness – are we giving each other space to express our own leadership?
One of the core tensions in leadership resides in how to guide a group towards presence, agency and relationship without sacrificing openness through overbearing structure.
(When we lead workshops, as opposed to practice sessions, they may or may not embody these values – for example, a workshop about openness might itself benefit from being highly structured)
Can I join if I haven't trained with the Relateful Company or Transformational Connection?
Yes, if you have a relevant qualification and have the requisite experience in an open-form group presence practice. Email me at leadingtogether2027@gmail.com and we can explore whether the training would be a good fit for you.
Can I join from a different time zone?
Yes, if you can attend all of the group calls and at least six of the workshops. These will all take place on Mondays, between 6–8pm UK time (7–9pm Central European Time, 12–2pm US Central Time*).
For each feedback session, you will co-ordinate with the two other leaders of the session to arrange it at a time that works for all of you.
If you are based in Asia or Australasia get in touch (leadingtogether2027@gmail.com) to discuss whether the training is a good fit for you. You are welcome to participate if you are able to join the required calls. Please also note that you may need additional flexibility in order to schedule your feedback sessions, and to attend the feedback sessions of others.
*Please note that UK daylight savings will end on March 28 2027, which is two weeks after it ends in the USA on March 14 2027. Between 14–28 March sessions will still take place 6–8pm UK time, which will be 1–3pm US central time.
I already know I cannot attend all of the group calls, can I still join?
Every participant is asked to attend all five of the group calls, which are an essential part of opening, maintaining and closing the container of the training.
If you know you need to miss only one of them, it may still work for you to join the training. Contact me at leadingtogether2027@gmail.com to discuss further.
If you know you cannot attend more than one of the group calls, please do not enrol for the training.
Is there anything to do between sessions? How can I get more involved?
Beyond the 'core commitments' of the training, you are welcome to attend as many workshops as you like (up to fifteen, if the training is full). You can also attend the feedback sessions run by other people, which can be a wonderful source of inspiration and learning. If the training is full, these will, on average, be weekly (the timings will vary, so you may not be able to attend them all).
We will also have a dedicated online discussion space to share reflections on sessions and to discuss emergent ideas about the practice. You are free to engage with this as much or as little as you like.
What software will we use? What do I need to do to prepare?
All training sessions will take place as video calls on Zoom. Before the training begins, please download that software and ensure that you are familiar with how to use it.
For each feedback call, it will be helpful if one of the three leaders can host the call on a paid Zoom account (so that the call can extend beyond forty minutes). An alternative arrangement can be made if necessary.
What can I contribute to the training journal?
At minimum, the training journal will include a list of the names of the training participants, along with the titles and synopses of their workshops. This is an opportunity to advertise relevant work that you do, and you can link to a personal webpage.
You are also invited, if you wish, to contribute either a short video (up to 10 minutes) or a short piece of writing (up to one thousand words). Examples of what this could be include:
- Personal reflections on why you lead the practice.
- An exploration of the meaning of a word that you take to be important in the practice (e.g. "surrender", or "love")
- A conversation about some element of the practice (or a transcript of such a conversation)
- A demonstration of something you take to be important in the practice (as a video or as a transcript)
- A deeper exploration of a topic covered in a workshop.
- A poem or two inspired by the training.
The deadline for submitting this contribution is Monday 22 March.
Shortly after the end of the training, the journal will be freely distributed (in digital form) amongst our wider practice communities. It is an opportunity to record our explorations and to stimulate further enquiries. Together, we will contribute to the evolution of open-form presence practices.
